Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran on Saturday responded to Chief Minister M K Stalin’s remarks about “Delhi”, listing what he said were major schemes and projects delivered to the State by the Modi-led Union government.
Speaking in Tirunelveli, Nagendran questioned why post-election developments in Bihar were being compared with Tamil Nadu, and said the focus should first be on the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election. He also raised questions about seat-sharing within the DMK alliance, including how many seats were allotted to the VCK.
Nagendran accused the DMK government of failing to deliver benefits over the last five years and pointed to drug-related issues, claiming that 22,000 kg of ganja had been seized. He also referred to the sexual assault and murder of a schoolgirl in Vilathikulam, asking why such incidents were happening and whether the government had effectively curbed narcotics.
Listing Union government initiatives, he claimed projects worth Rs 14 lakh crore had been implemented in Tamil Nadu after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. He cited works such as the Tuticorin airport project at Rs 350 crore and the Tiruchirappalli airport project at Rs 650 crore.
He further said free ration supplies were being provided by the Prime Minister and alleged the State government was taking credit. He added that around three lakh houses were still to be built and claimed the Centre’s share in each house was 60%. He also defended actor-politician Sarathkumar holding a separate meeting and said he could contest from any constituency, citing his electoral record in Tirunelveli and nearby segments.
