Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Saturday said the DMK has no suitable competitor in the present political situation, ahead of the next Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

Speaking at Kalaiyarkoil in Sivaganga district, he said Chief Minister M K Stalin’s initiatives over the past five years have benefited people and that there is a possibility Stalin could return as Chief Minister.

Panneerselvam also said he is happy to be in the DMK founded by C N Annadurai, adding that he has joined the party as an ordinary cadre.

He criticised AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, calling him self-centred and alleging he lacked the quality of leading by embracing everyone. He further claimed Palaniswami had pushed the AIADMK into decline.

Referring to actor Vijay’s newly launched party, Panneerselvam noted that Vijay has said he would contest the Assembly election independently, and reiterated that the Stalin government is one that people can accept.
