Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Monday accused Chief Minister M K Stalin of routinely spreading “defamatory” claims whenever AIADMK leaders travel to Delhi, and said the DMK leadership was acting out of fear.

Speaking after seat-sharing talks with the BJP, AMMK and PMK were concluded, EPS said the discussions ended smoothly and that negotiations with more parties were still under way. He said the final allocation and the number of seats to be announced would be decided by Monday night.

EPS claimed the AIADMK-led front was formed “emotionally” and described it as a winning alliance. He asserted that the alliance would win in 210 constituencies and that AIADMK would secure a majority to form the government.

He also contrasted his alliance’s pace with the DMK-led front, alleging that DMK and Congress held talks for around 20 days and engaged in a “war of words”. EPS said some DMK allies, including the Marxists and VCK, were yet to get a final decision, and mocked them for “wandering” for five seats after having secured six in the previous election.

Questioning DMK’s own Delhi outreach, EPS asked why MP Kanimozhi went to Delhi and met Congress leaders, and whether any outcome followed. He added that consultations among alliance partners were normal, but said the continuing delay in the DMK camp reflected internal uncertainty.
