Several developments across Tamil Nadu are lined up for March 23, spanning court proceedings, election-related meetings and administrative preparations.
A Madurai district court is set to deliver its verdict in the Sathankulam father-son murder case involving Jayaraj and Bennix, after a six-year trial. The case had drawn statewide attention.
On the political front, Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman began his election campaign after worship at the Murugan temple in Tiruttani, Tiruvallur district. The report said he has been preparing songs focused on issues prevailing in Tamil Nadu to connect with voters during campaigning.
Seat-sharing within the AIADMK-led alliance, including allocations for the BJP and other parties, was finalised today. BJP’s Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal arrived in Chennai and held talks with AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.
In other party developments, a DMDK district secretaries’ meeting was held under Premalatha Vijayakanth, with a decision to contest in Puducherry. Meanwhile, the CPM state secretariat met amid continuing delays in seat-sharing talks, and the VCK held a high-level consultative meeting as negotiations with the DMK remained unresolved.
Administratively, the first phase of randomisation for dispatching EVMs and VVPAT machines on a rotational basis is beginning across districts in Tamil Nadu.
