Union Minister and BJP in-charge for Tamil Nadu Piyush Goyal on Monday claimed that people in the state are disillusioned with the DMK-Congress alliance and are looking for a political change.

Speaking to reporters after arriving in Chennai, Goyal said the Congress and its allies are facing defeats across states and asserted that Tamil Nadu is ready for a “new beginning”. He also said people want AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) to become Chief Minister.

Goyal said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu is functioning “like a family” and has come together under AIADMK leadership to defeat what he described as a corruption-tainted DMK alliance.

He added that seat-sharing among NDA partners, including the BJP, is expected to be finalised on March 23, and that alliance leaders will jointly announce the details after discussions.

Goyal further expressed confidence that the NDA would win in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and form a government focused on development.
