RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday urged citizens to identify illegal immigrants and report them to the appropriate authorities. He said people should remain vigilant about foreigners who have entered the country unlawfully.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Jeevan Deep Ashram in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, Bhagwat said the public should ensure that such infiltrators do not find employment. At the same time, he cautioned against discrimination among the country’s own people.
On demographics, he said doctors recommend having three children for a healthy family and warned that fertility rates falling below three could pose long-term risks, citing population studies. He said countries with low birth rates are actively trying to raise their populations and called for a re-examination of India’s population policy, stressing that public understanding is crucial alongside legal measures.
Bhagwat also said the government could enact laws to prevent religious conversions, but added that society must take the lead. He noted that some who have converted may wish to return and said those who want to come back should be welcomed.
Highlighting the concept of an ashram, he described it as a uniquely Indian institution that teaches life values and discipline. He said even Finland’s well-known education model reflects aspects of the gurukul and ashram approach, where learning goes beyond merely earning a livelihood.
