Chennai: Speculation surfaced on Tuesday that Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) was unhappy with seat-sharing in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), after party leader GK Vasan did not attend the talks held at the AIADMK office.

The meeting in Chennai was convened to finalise constituency allocation among NDA partners in Tamil Nadu, including the AIADMK, BJP, AMMK and PMK. The discussions were held in the presence of BJP election in-charge Piyush Goyal and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.

From the BJP side, Union Minister of State L Murugan, state president Nainar Nagendran and former state president Tamilisai Soundararajan were among those who took part.

In a statement issued on March 24, Vasan said he met Piyush Goyal in Chennai on Monday night and that a decision had been taken on the number of seats his party would contest in the upcoming Assembly election as part of the AIADMK-led NDA arrangement.
