Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday called on DMK’s youth wing functionaries to work hard to “prove” that Tamil Nadu’s western region remains the party’s stronghold.

He was speaking at a meeting of youth wing organisers and deputy organisers from Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts at Muthalipalayam near Sulur in Coimbatore district. Information and Publicity Minister Saminathan, former minister Senthil Balaji, youth wing deputy secretary Prakash and Coimbatore South district secretary Thalapathi Murugesan were among those present.

Recalling the party’s performance in the last Lok Sabha elections under the slogan “Kalathil Ilaiyarani”, Udhayanidhi said the organisation should aim for a similar “100% victory” in the upcoming Assembly elections. He asked cadres to take up door-to-door outreach and be prepared for what he described as a democratic battle.

He also referred to the Chief Minister’s announcement that the women’s entitlement assistance would be increased to Rs 2,000 after the election victory, and urged cadres to take the government’s achievements to the people. Criticising the BJP-led Union government for allegedly withholding funds to the state, he also attacked the AIADMK leadership over alliance talks in Delhi.

Udhayanidhi cautioned party workers to speak carefully in public, saying even small mistakes could be amplified against them. He asked cadres to work intensively over the next 32 days and said he would ensure recognition for those who worked sincerely, while placing responsibility for delivering victory on the organisation.
