AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday announced the constituency allocation for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners in Chennai. The announcement follows a seat-sharing understanding reached with alliance parties.
In the 16 Assembly constituencies within Chennai district, the AIADMK will contest 13 seats directly. The remaining three seats have been allotted to alliance partners.
According to the list released, the AIADMK will contest: R K Nagar, Kolathur, Villivakkam, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar (SC), Egmore (SC), Royapuram, Harbour, Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni, Thousand Lights, Anna Nagar, Virugambakkam, Thyagaraya Nagar and Velachery.
The seats allotted to allies are: Mylapore (BJP), Saidapet (AMMK) and Perambur (PMK). In the 2021 Assembly election, the DMK-led alliance won 15 of Chennai’s 16 seats, with the Congress winning Velachery; several constituencies, including Thyagaraya Nagar, were decided by narrow margins.
