Chennai: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said that those hoping to create a rift in the DMK-led secular progressive alliance have been left disappointed, and are now trying to spread criticism and rumours about seat-sharing.
In a letter to party members, Stalin said seat-sharing talks are a normal part of alliance politics, where parties stake claims and the lead party considers and allocates seats in a democratic manner. He said the DMK-led alliance has followed this process.
He added that the alliance is rooted in principles such as secularism, state rights, social justice and equality, and that partner parties are standing shoulder to shoulder with the DMK in opposing what he described as the BJP-led Union government’s communal politics and continued neglect of Tamil Nadu.
Calling on DMK workers to ignore diversionary rumours, Stalin urged them to work closely with alliance partners over the next four weeks to convert public support into victory. He noted that in the 2026 Assembly election, the “Rising Sun” symbol will be in the fray in 175 constituencies through DMK candidates and friendly-party candidates contesting on the DMK symbol.
Stalin also said that the alliance’s partner symbols are part of the collective campaign, and asserted that all 234 constituencies belong to the alliance’s fight to protect democracy and continue governance based on “everything for everyone.”
