Kerala Police have registered a case against social media platform X in connection with a video that allegedly carried defamatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India.
In a statement, the Kerala Cyber Wing said the Election Commission brought the post to its attention. During verification, police concluded the content could mislead people and undermine constitutional institutions.
The cyber wing further said the video appeared capable of affecting the conduct of elections in a free and fair manner.
Following this, the Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Crime Police registered a case against a netizen identified as Lakshmi N Raju, others linked to the post, and X, and said an investigation is under way.
