Former minister and DMK Villupuram North district secretary Mastan is known for using unusual methods during election campaigns, often trying new ways to connect with voters.

According to the report, he has previously been seen entering tea stalls to make and serve tea, preparing parottas at eateries, buying stick ice creams for people, and even offering milk at a snake mound as part of outreach.

At an advisory meeting in Gingee for branch secretaries and booth agents, Mastan conducted a live demonstration on stage on how party workers should ask for votes.

He walked from one end of the stage to the other with a group of 10, raising slogans such as “Check the vote in mother’s hand, father’s hand, brother’s hand, sister’s hand.”

At the other end, he approached an elderly party member seated on a chair and sought votes by first falling at the person’s feet. He then instructed other functionaries to do the same, presenting it as a lesson on how to behave while canvassing.
