Chennai: As preparations intensify for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, alliance partners have begun finalising seat-sharing and candidate lists. Parties have been submitting their preferred constituency lists to the DMK’s seat-sharing panel at Anna Arivalayam.

MDMK leaders met the DMK negotiation team in Chennai and handed over a list of constituencies they wanted to contest. After the meeting, MDMK presidium chairman Arjun Raj spoke to reporters.

He said the party would announce the four allotted constituencies only after an official agreement is signed. While welcoming the allocation, he also expressed disappointment that the party did not receive seats commensurate with its standing, remarking that MDMK was “crying while laughing”.

Arjun Raj further said the party was also unhappy that it could not contest on its own symbol in all four seats. As per the agreement, MDMK will contest in three constituencies on the DMK’s ‘Rising Sun’ symbol and in one constituency on the MDMK symbol.
