QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a UK-based organisation, has released its 16th annual subject-wise world university rankings, placing several Indian institutions among the global top 50.
The rankings assessed more than 21,000 active programmes across 1,900 universities in over 100 countries. The evaluation is organised around five broad areas, including engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, and arts and humanities.
This year, 27 subjects from 12 Indian universities have made it into the top 50—up from 12 subjects last year. IIM Ahmedabad secured the 21st position in management and marketing.
IIT Delhi was listed in the top 50 for six subjects. Courses from IITs in Chennai, Kharagpur and Mumbai, along with Jawaharlal Nehru University and BITS Pilani, also featured within the world’s top 50 in their respective subjects.
