BJP leader Nainar Nagendran, who won the Tirunelveli Assembly seat in the 2021 Tamil Nadu elections, has announced that he will contest from Sattur in the upcoming election.

Speaking to reporters in Kanyakumari, Nagendran expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win across constituencies. He said he would be the NDA candidate from Sattur.

He also referred to the Centre reducing excise duty amid war-related tensions in Gulf countries, and urged the Tamil Nadu government to reduce its share as well. On AIADMK-BJP seat-sharing, he said allocations were made through mutual understanding and claimed that misinformation campaigns should not be believed.

Nagendran said constituency changes were part of an agreed exchange arrangement and denied claims that the BJP had “asked and obtained” seats specifically in Kanyakumari district. He added that the party leadership would decide on whether Annamalai contests.

Criticising Chief Minister M K Stalin, he alleged that public issues were not being prioritised. He said the alliance wanted a Tamil Nadu free of sexual crimes and ganja addiction, and called for immediate action by the state government on actor Vijay’s complaint regarding derogatory remarks about women by DMK members.
