Puthiya Tamilagam will contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election on its own, party president Krishnasamy announced in Chennai.
He said the party had held talks to be part of the AIADMK alliance, but no agreement was reached. Following this, the party has decided to go solo.
According to Krishnasamy, Puthiya Tamilagam is organisationally strong in about 120 constituencies. From these, the party will shortlist 60 to 70 seats where it believes its chances are bright and field candidates there.
The party’s candidate list is scheduled to be released in Chennai on March 29.
