Chennai: Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan on Thursday announced the party’s candidates for five Assembly constituencies it will contest as part of the AIADMK-led alliance.

The AIADMK-led NDA alliance includes the BJP, PMK, AMMK, TMC (Moopanar), Puratchi Bharatham, Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and the India Jananayaka Katchi. As per the seat-sharing arrangement, the BJP has been allotted 27 seats, PMK 18, AMMK 11 and TMC (Moopanar) five, while the India Jananayaka Katchi has two seats and Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and Puratchi Bharatham have one each.

Vasan named the TMC (Moopanar) nominees as: Vidiyal Sekar (Ottanchathiram), Yuvaraja (Erode West), Karthikeyan (Ranipet), Simon (Killiyoor) and Ashok Kumar (Kumbakonam).

The party noted that Vidiyal Sekar had previously served as an MLA from Kangeyam.

Separately, A.C. Shanmugam, leader of the Puthiya Needhi Katchi, said his party has been allotted two seats in the AIADMK alliance. He said the party will contest in Madurai Central, with the second constituency to be announced later, and that it plans to contest one seat under the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol and the other under the ‘Lotus’ symbol.
