A political exchange broke out in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday over the DMK’s Tamil Nadu election slogan, “Let Stalin continue, let Tamil Nadu win,” during the discussion on the Finance Bill.

Speaking in the debate, DMK MP P. Wilson alleged that the Centre was not providing adequate funds to Tamil Nadu and invoked the party’s campaign slogan while making his remarks.

AIADMK MP M. Thambidurai, who was in the Chair at the time, did not respond immediately. Later, when he got an opportunity to speak in the same debate, he rejected the charge and said Tamil Nadu had received four times more funds than during the previous UPA period when the DMK was part of the government.

Thambidurai also accused the DMK government of failing to implement central schemes properly, alleged that central funds were being misused, and claimed the state was burdened with heavy debt. He said the AIADMK believed the public would vote the DMK out in the 2026 Assembly election and asserted that only AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami could ensure Tamil Nadu’s victory.
