Washington: The White House has said US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi share an “excellent relationship,” according to remarks by press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia, where the US has been carrying out strikes alongside Israel against Iran for about a month. Reports of a possible US ground operation have added to the anxiety.
Against this backdrop, Trump and Modi recently spoke by phone to discuss the war-related situation. India’s mission earlier released a message attributed to Trump saying the “wonderful relationship” with India would grow stronger in the coming period.
In an interview with ANI, Leavitt said the two leaders had spoken over the phone and described the exchange as a “useful conversation.”
