Prime Minister Narendra Modi, campaigning in Palakkad ahead of the Kerala polls, alleged that the Congress-led alliance and the Left front base their policies on vote-bank politics.
Modi travelled from Coimbatore to Palakkad and held a roadshow, where BJP and NDA workers and members of the public gathered along the route to welcome him.
Addressing a public meeting, he said Congress and Left parties have a history of “ruining” governance wherever they come to power, and claimed Kerala has also been affected by what he called their “harmful plans”. He pointed to Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh to argue that development works have stalled and that economic stress has increased under Congress rule.
On the impact of the West Asia conflict, Modi said the Centre is working to ensure its effects on India remain limited and that he is in touch with leaders of countries involved in the war. He said the safety of Indians caught in the region is being prioritised, and accused Congress of politicising the issue.
Modi said the BJP and NDA are working continuously to form a government in Kerala, adding that the alliance aims to fulfil the state’s aspirations. He also claimed the Centre has provided Kerala five times more funds than what was allocated when Congress was in power at the Centre.
