AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday announced the party’s final list of 17 candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

In the NDA alliance seat-sharing arrangement, AIADMK has been allotted 167 of the state’s 234 constituencies. The party had already released candidates for 150 seats in two phases, and the latest announcement completes the remaining 17.

In Chennai’s Kolathur, AIADMK has fielded Santhanakrishnan, deputy secretary of the Jayalalithaa Peravai and a former councillor, to take on Chief Minister M K Stalin.

The party also named Aadhi Rajaram—who had earlier contested against Stalin in Kolathur in the 2021 election—as its candidate from Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, where he will face Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

In another notable nomination, Porkodi, wife of slain Bahujan Samaj Party leader Armstrong and head of the Tamil Nadu state BSP, will contest from Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar (SC) on the AIADMK’s ‘Two Leaves’ symbol. The final list includes candidates for constituencies such as Thousand Lights, Anna Nagar, Virugambakkam, T Nagar, Velachery, Sholinganallur, R K Nagar, Villivakkam, Tiruchuzhi, Alandur, Egmore (SC) and Alangudi.
