A reader from Krishnagiri has alleged that bribery was demanded at multiple stages while buying land, building a house and securing basic approvals. The complaint was shared in a reader-feedback column aimed at exposing corruption, with the writer requesting anonymity.
According to the reader, money was sought for tasks such as patta transfer and panchayat permission. The reader also claims that even obtaining a required sketch related to the electricity process involved a payment.
When applying for a new electricity connection at the Krishnagiri electricity board office, the reader alleges an official collected money and forwarded the application to the area foreman, promising the connection within a month. However, the reader says the work did not progress even after 45 days, citing reasons such as non-availability of equipment and seniority-based allocation.
The reader further alleges that the connection work moved only after paying the foreman separately, after which materials arrived the very next day. Additional payments were allegedly demanded for meter installation and later for converting the supply to a house connection, with the reader claiming that amounts were negotiated down.
The reader concluded by accusing some staff of acting without conscience and exploiting applicants during routine service delivery.
