New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on citizens to remain united to face the challenges arising from the ongoing war situation in West Asia. Speaking in his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, he also urged people not to believe rumours, particularly those linked to fuel.
Modi noted that the conflict has continued for about a month in the region, where many Indians live and work. He said West Asian countries have been extending necessary support to Indians affected by the situation, and expressed gratitude for the assistance.
Pointing out that the fighting is taking place in a region critical to India’s energy needs, the Prime Minister cautioned that there is a risk of petrol and diesel shortages globally. He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and take decisions based only on information provided by the government.
He also asked opposition parties not to seek political advantage from the situation, saying it concerns the welfare of 140 crore people. In the same address, Modi promoted the ‘Gyan Bharatam’ survey, urging citizens to share details of historical documents such as palm-leaf manuscripts through a mobile app.
Modi further reminded people that 100 days remain for International Yoga Day and advised citizens to focus on health by reducing sugar intake and cutting cooking oil use by 10%, saying such steps can help prevent obesity and lifestyle-related diseases.
