PUDUCHERRY: Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Monday questioned whether the INDIA alliance in Puducherry had any “alliance dharma”, alleging that key partners were not adhering to coalition discipline.
Campaigning in support of Puducherry BJP state president Ramalingam, who is contesting from the Raj Bhavan constituency, Annamalai described the INDIA bloc in the Union Territory as a “confusing alliance”. He claimed the CPM and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) were contesting independently despite being part of the alliance.
Annamalai also targeted the Puducherry Congress, saying it had put together an “unusual” coalition and questioned how such a grouping could deliver a disciplined administration if it came to power. He asserted that the alliance lacked mutual respect and could not even keep its own seat-sharing commitments across 30 constituencies.
Calling the bloc’s efforts a failure—from forming the alliance to filing nominations—he predicted the INDIA alliance would face a major defeat on polling day, April 9, and said voters would deliver a fitting response.
