Delhi Police have arrested a 47-year-old man from Mysuru, Karnataka, for allegedly sending bomb threat emails across the country. Investigators said the emails claimed explosives had been planted in schools, government institutions and courts.
In recent weeks, Delhi saw a spike in such threats sent by email, often timed for early mornings when schools and offices were about to open. Police said the pattern made it difficult to trace the source quickly.
Initial checks suggested the messages originated from overseas addresses, but subsequent verification found the threats to be hoaxes. Delhi Police continued a discreet technical probe to identify where the emails were actually being sent from.
The trail eventually led to Mysuru, following which Delhi Police coordinated with local police to track the suspect. The accused was identified as Srinivas Louis, and questioning indicated he had sent around 1,100 such emails so far.
Police said the man is a postgraduate and a native of Bengaluru. Unmarried, he had been living with his mother—an ex-employee of the Karnataka government—in Mysuru, and has been taken to Delhi for further investigation.
