PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss and All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader Sasikala had announced that they would contest the election as allies.
However, with no seat-sharing agreement finalised between the two parties, Sasikala on March 29 released a list of candidates for 23 constituencies. In that list, she named Sudhakar as the party’s candidate for Mayiladuthurai.
Subsequently, Ramadoss announced candidates for five constituencies the day before yesterday. In his list, he said Paakkam Sakthivel would contest from Mayiladuthurai.
With both leaders declaring separate candidates for the same constituency, questions have emerged over whether the Ramadoss–Sasikala alliance has broken down.
