TVK leader Vijay has drawn attention after his election affidavit listed an unexpected vehicle: a TVS XL moped. The disclosure came along with his nomination filing for the Perambur constituency on March 30.

According to the asset details, Vijay has movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 600 crore and also owns high-end cars. However, the inclusion of a moped—stated to have been purchased last year for Rs 67,000—stood out and sparked curiosity.

While there was initial speculation that the moped may have been bought for household staff, party circles now claim it was purchased for Vijay’s personal use. Sources said he prefers travelling alone and uses the moped to move around without drawing attention.

As per the same sources, Vijay occasionally rides early in the morning on the East Coast Road and in streets around his residence. They added that he also visits a nearby party office and friends’ homes wearing a helmet, so that people do not recognise him.

The party sources compared the approach to actor Rajinikanth’s practice of going out in disguise, saying Vijay similarly keeps a low profile by using the moped.
