Chennai: PMK founder S Ramadoss has launched a new political outfit named the All India Democratic Protection Kazhagam.

The move comes amid internal differences involving his son Anbumani and daughter-in-law Sowmiya, after which Ramadoss took a series of organisational steps and removed Anbumani and several others from the PMK. However, a court has affirmed that Anbumani will continue as PMK president and that the party’s mango symbol belongs to him.

While the PMK is contesting in alliance with the AIADMK, Ramadoss’ efforts to join the DMK-led alliance did not succeed, according to the report. He has since aligned with Sasikala’s All India Revolutionary Leader People’s Progress Kazhagam and has fielded candidates in multiple constituencies.

In this backdrop, the Election Commission has granted permission for star campaigners to canvass for Ramadoss’ new party. The approved list includes 20 names, including Ramadoss, G K Mani, Srikanthi and Thirukachur Arumugam.
