In Krishnagiri district, DMK western district secretary and sitting Hosur MLA Prakash is said to be upset after the party allotted the Hosur seat to Mayor Sathya, despite expectations that he would be renominated.

Prakash had earlier won from Thali in 2016 and was shifted to Hosur for the 2021 election. Ahead of the current polls, the DMK leadership reportedly pressed him to contest from Veppanahalli, but he refused, saying he could not change constituencies every election. Party sources claim this led to him not being given a ticket.

On March 31, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin campaigned in support of candidates including Thali CPI nominee Ramachandran, Hosur DMK candidate Sathya and Veppanahalli DMK candidate Srinivasan. He later stayed overnight at a resort near Sulagiri.

At the resort, when Food Minister R. Chakrapani allegedly placed a hand on Prakash’s shoulder and tried to speak, Prakash reportedly reacted angrily and asked him to remove it, saying he had been brought to this situation because of such actions.

DMK functionaries said Prakash believes Chakrapani, who is the party’s minister-in-charge for Krishnagiri, played a role in him being denied a ticket. Supporters also claimed the minister, who earlier did not attend events in Krishnagiri West without Prakash, had now “betrayed” him.
