Union minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday alleged that the DMK, having lost public support, is attempting to split votes by projecting actor Vijay.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Goyal said the BJP’s campaign has begun strongly and that all BJP candidates are set to file their nomination papers on Sunday. He claimed there is enthusiasm on the ground.

He targeted the DMK–Congress alliance, calling it “anti-national” and “anti-Tamil Nadu”, and said voters would defeat the combine. He asserted that the NDA would win and form the next government in Tamil Nadu.

Goyal further claimed the DMK has realised people have decided to vote it out, and therefore is trying to divide anti-DMK votes and public anger by putting Vijay in the forefront. He said voters are “smart” and would back the NDA to form the government.
