The internal rift in the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) widened further after a candidate named by the Ramadoss faction shifted allegiance to the Anbumani camp.
According to the party’s announcements for the upcoming election, the Vikravandi constituency had turned into a direct contest between the two groups. The Anbumani side named Mayilam sitting MLA Sivakumar as its candidate, while the Ramadoss faction declared central district secretary Pugazhenthi as its nominee.
However, Pugazhenthi met Anbumani in Chennai and formally joined his team, effectively changing sides ahead of the polls.
Following the development, Ramadoss said Pugazhenthi had acted in a manner that brought disrepute to the party and announced that he was being removed from PMK.
