PMK founder S. Ramadoss is said to be upset after announcing a series of candidates amid an internal split in the party. According to party sources, candidates aligned with Ramadoss have been fielded in 10 of 18 constituencies with the stated aim of defeating nominees backed by Anbumani.

So far, Ramadoss has announced 37 candidates across six phases. However, several of those named are reportedly saying they are not interested in contesting and are backing out.

Sources claim some individuals have been avoiding Ramadoss by switching off their mobile phones, while his elder daughter Srikanti is also said to have stayed away without showing interest in entering the fray.

In a further development, party leader Mani—who had been travelling with Ramadoss until recently—has allegedly held indirect talks with the DMK and Congress, and has fielded his son Tamizhkumaran as a Congress candidate from Pennagaram. Party sources say many are now avoiding visits to the Thailapuram estate and not taking calls, leaving Ramadoss deeply distressed.
