Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin campaigned for the DMK-led alliance candidates in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district, where he launched a sharp attack on AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS).

Stalin alleged that the BJP-led Union government, which handles foreign policy, has failed to protect Tamil Nadu’s fisherfolk, citing continued attacks by the Sri Lankan Navy. He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier criticism of the UPA on the same issue.

Raising a list of pending demands, Stalin said there were several questions to be put to the Prime Minister on projects such as the Madurai AIIMS, metro rail proposals for Coimbatore and Madurai, and the Hosur airport.

He further criticised the proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), alleging that minority communities—particularly Christian charitable organisations—were being targeted. He warned that minority-run educational institutions and hospitals could be affected, and said even minor delays in documentation could lead to cancellation of registrations.

Stalin said Opposition MPs had spoken against the move strongly, and demanded that EPS clarify the AIADMK’s stand. He also condemned remarks attributed to EPS about late DMK leader M. Karunanidhi, and accused EPS of lacking gratitude towards those who helped him. Stalin later attended a public meeting in Sankarankovil, Tenkasi district, to campaign for DMK candidates.
