Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday alleged that a Rs 15,000-crore fraud took place during the DMK-Congress alliance government in Puducherry. Addressing an election campaign meeting at Manadipattu, he said the amount mentioned in the CAG report could have funded Puducherry’s development budget for three years.
Shah appealed to voters to “restore” the NDA government in Puducherry, noting that polling is due in three days. He accused the previous Congress government led by V Narayanasamy of pushing the Union Territory into backwardness, and said the last five years were spent correcting that.
He also contrasted the NDA’s unity with what he described as infighting within the INDIA alliance, claiming Left parties were contesting separately and that the DMK and Congress were directly competing in five constituencies.
Reiterating allegations of corruption, Shah claimed irregularities in medical college admissions and reservation benefits, alleging seats meant for reservation were sold and that benefits for Scheduled Castes were denied unless bribes were paid.
Shah further claimed unemployment rose by 47% under the Congress-DMK rule and later fell to 4.3% after steps taken by the NDA government. He also criticised Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on fuel prices and availability, asserting that petrol and diesel were easily available under the Modi government.
