A reader from Ottanchathiram in Dindigul district has alleged that an error made by officials in an online land record has left him struggling to protect his property.
According to the complaint, the land’s subdivision number is “1C”, and village administrative office records reportedly reflect it correctly. However, while uploading the FMB details online, officials allegedly entered it as “1B”.
The reader said he submitted multiple petitions seeking correction of the online FMB entry, but the mistake was not rectified.
With no other option, he approached the tahsildar, who allegedly told him the change would be made only if he paid Rs 13,000. As he lives outside the area, the reader claimed he ended up paying the amount to safeguard his property.
The complainant argued that officials should have provided relief for the distress caused by their mistake and that action should have been taken against those responsible, instead of money being demanded from him.
