Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) election campaign management general secretary Aadhav Arjuna has alleged that the DMK is working to keep Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan from moving into state-level politics.

In an interview, Aadhav Arjuna said the DMK is creating “loyalists” and “dependents” within its alliance parties, using influence and financial strength to deepen its hold. He also claimed Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has sidelined Kanimozhi to secure a future leadership path for his son Udhayanidhi.

He further pointed to developments within the Congress in Tamil Nadu, saying state Congress chief Selvaperunthagai has indicated he would resign after the election due to pressure from party workers.

Aadhav Arjuna questioned why MDMK leader Vaiko would contest on the DMK symbol, noting that Vaiko’s son Durai had earlier won on a separate symbol. He also criticised the DMK government over the demolition of a marriage hall built by late DMDK founder Vijayakanth in Chennai’s Koyambedu, and remarked that despite past criticism, the DMDK is now in alliance with the DMK.

On Thirumavalavan, he said the VCK leader had recently announced his intention to enter state politics, but claimed that within days he was made to step back after a meeting with the Chief Minister’s son-in-law Sabareesan. He also alleged that the DMK pressured the VCK to announce a Congress-linked person as its candidate.
