Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Saturday alleged that the BJP is attempting to gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu by “wearing the mask” of the AIADMK and using its general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Campaigning at Tilagar Thidal in Pudukkottai in support of DMK candidate Muthuraj, Udhayanidhi said Tamil Nadu has emerged as a “number one” state due to the DMK government’s flagship initiatives. He also accused the BJP-led Union government of not allocating funds to Tamil Nadu.
Questioning whether the BJP should be allowed to enter the state, he claimed the party is trying to cover itself with the AIADMK’s identity. He said this is why the DMK describes the election as a battle between Delhi and Tamil Nadu.
Udhayanidhi further targeted Palaniswami, calling him a “subservient” ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and mocked his campaign gesture of showing two fingers while seeking votes. He urged voters to defeat the AIADMK again and said Tamil Nadu must prove it will remain “out of control” for Delhi.
