Chennai: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has said the decision by residents of Vengaivayal village in Pudukkottai district to boycott the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election will “bring down” the DMK.

In a statement, he said Dalit residents of the village have announced the boycott to protest the lack of justice in the case in which human waste was allegedly mixed in a drinking water tank. He also accused the DMK government of portraying the affected people as offenders.

Anbumani noted that the village had earlier boycotted the last Lok Sabha election as well, but alleged that the government still failed to take steps to deliver justice. He claimed this reflected an attitude of indifference towards Dalit communities.

He further criticised DMK’s alliance partners, alleging they were defending the ruling party instead of fighting for justice. He said the boycott reflects anger against what he called “betrayal politics” and asserted that the community would not forgive it.
