Chennai: TVK leader and actor Vijay has submitted a fresh affidavit for the Perambur Assembly constituency, marking the third correction to his nomination-related documents, according to reports.

Vijay is contesting the Tamil Nadu Assembly election from two constituencies—Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East—and had already filed nominations for both. However, the information provided in the two sets of papers was found to be inconsistent.

In the Perambur filing, it was stated that no criminal cases were pending against him, while the Tiruchirappalli East papers mentioned two pending cases. His age was also reportedly recorded differently in the two nominations, prompting legal observers to warn that the nomination could face rejection if not rectified.

Following this, TVK’s legal team sought corrections with the Perambur election officer, and revised documents were submitted earlier. The affidavit included details of cases linked to an incident at a Madurai event and another related to alleged public disturbance during campaigning in Kolathur, along with information on his campaign vehicle valued at Rs 6 crore and age particulars.

With the nomination deadline approaching, a new affidavit incorporating the previously omitted details was filed. Vijay did not submit it in person; it was handed over to Returning Officer Geetha by Perambur TVK district secretary Siva.
