Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai on Sunday alleged that former minister Senthil Balaji, contesting from Coimbatore South, has orchestrated the filing of multiple independent nominations from Karur.

Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Annamalai said Balaji had arranged for 18 people from the same locality in Karur to submit nominations as independents in the constituency. He alleged they were being deployed as “henchmen” under the cover of candidatures.

Annamalai claimed that “no self-respecting DMK member” in Coimbatore would accept the presence of 18 independents from Karur in the fray, and asserted that DMK workers themselves would defeat Balaji in Coimbatore South.

He further said that Balaji’s brother Ashok Kumar, who he claimed is being sought by the Enforcement Directorate, has filed a nomination as an alternative candidate in Karur. Annamalai demanded that the nomination papers be rejected.

In the same interaction, Annamalai accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of spreading falsehoods about the foreign donation law, stating that the law was introduced by the Congress and that various sections receive foreign donations. He also warned the media about a fake letter circulated in his name and said the electoral situation could change in the final two weeks.
