The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has announced Sundararaj as its candidate for the Tiruvottiyur constituency in Chennai.
Sundararaj, along with CPM state secretary Shanmugam, visited the office of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan at Alwarpet on Monday to convey greetings and seek his wishes.
Kamal Haasan extended his best wishes for Sundararaj’s victory, according to the party.
During the meeting, Shanmugam told Kamal that the CPM was aware of his interest in the party’s ideology and policies, and requested him to join the campaign in support of CPM candidates.
