West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday alleged that the BJP has a “secret agreement” involving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the Congress.
Speaking while campaigning for Trinamool Congress candidates in Nadia district, Banerjee linked her charge to administrative postings made ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, which are scheduled in two phases on April 23 and April 29.
She claimed that more than 500 officials from West Bengal were appointed as election observers in Tamil Nadu, and alleged that, in return, the BJP placed officials favourable to it in West Bengal.
Banerjee also accused the BJP of raising concerns about voter list irregularities only during the Assembly election, after not revising the rolls during the Lok Sabha polls. She said she would tour the country after the election to unite opposition parties.
On a separate issue, she said the Trinamool Congress had no connection to an attack on election officials in Malda. She alleged that an IPS officer who arrested the alleged mastermind was sent to Tamil Nadu as an election observer, and claimed capable officers were not being allowed to continue working in West Bengal.
