Allegations in Coimbatore
Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Tuesday alleged that minister Senthil Balaji has effectively “leased” the Coimbatore unit of the DMK. Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, he claimed that three people from Karur are contesting as independents in Coimbatore South.
Claims on campaign conduct
Annamalai said the NDA would pursue “quality politics” and reiterated his claim that his side would not pay money to voters in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency. He challenged the DMK over how it fought the 2024 election in the district.
Questions over nomination scrutiny
Referring to Coimbatore South, he alleged that a single notary had signed for 18 independent candidates brought from Karur, asking why no other notary was used. He also raised objections about nomination-related scrutiny in other constituencies, alleging that certain issues should have led to rejection during verification.
Allegations of cash distribution
Annamalai further alleged that people brought from Karur were going door-to-door with cash, and claimed this was being done by proxies linked to Senthil Balaji. He said volunteers would work for BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan, while accusing the DMK of running a money-driven operation in Coimbatore.
