DMK leadership has reportedly imposed restrictions on election campaigning by Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) leader K Veeramani, particularly in temple towns that see heavy pilgrim footfall.
According to the report, Veeramani has begun campaigning for the Assembly election, but DMK candidates are said to be reluctant to have him address meetings, citing concerns that his remarks could offend devotees.
The party leadership is said to be allowing him to campaign only in a limited manner, permitting visits to only a few constituencies while keeping him away from sensitive locations.
The restrictions reportedly include the constituencies of Chief Minister M K Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Temple towns such as Kumbakonam, Palani, Srirangam and Thirupparankundram are also said to be off-limits.
The report also notes that DMK supporter Suba Veerapandian, who is described as making similar remarks, has released a campaign schedule that does not include prominent temple towns.
