The Election Commission has ordered a change in the Tamil Nadu government’s top bureaucracy, directing the transfer of Chief Secretary Muruganandam. Saikumar has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary.

With the Tamil Nadu Assembly election scheduled for April 23, the Model Code of Conduct is in force. The Commission said it is taking steps to ensure the poll is conducted fairly.

As part of these measures, officials who have served in the same post for three years and those facing complaints have been shifted. The latest order includes the change at the Chief Secretary level.

In another move, Anti-Corruption Wing DGP David Devasirvatham has been transferred. Sandeep Mittal has been appointed as DGP for the Armed Police and the Anti-Corruption Wing.

Earlier, following the Commission’s directions, Sandeep Rai Rathore had been appointed as the Tamil Nadu DGP.
