Trichy district’s Lalgudi constituency has drawn attention after AIADMK candidate Leema Rose declared assets worth Rs 1,049.56 crore, making her the highest asset-declaring candidate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, according to her nomination papers.
Leema Rose, described as the wife of well-known lottery businessman Martin, filed a nomination running to 164 pages. In the documents, she disclosed details of assets held in her name as well as those in the names of her husband and their unmarried son.
As per the declaration, she reported jewellery and valuables including gold worth Rs 26.29 crore, diamonds worth Rs 15.48 crore, silver worth Rs 3.29 crore and platinum worth Rs 1.84 crore.
She also listed immovable assets such as land and buildings valued at Rs 909.94 crore and movable assets valued at Rs 139.62 crore, taking her total to Rs 1,049.56 crore.
The affidavit further stated that her husband Martin holds immovable assets worth Rs 3,262 crore and movable assets worth Rs 887.36 crore, while their son Jose Dyson Martin holds immovable assets worth Rs 437 crore.
