TVK leader and actor Vijay, speaking at an election campaign public meeting in KTC Nagar, Tirunelveli, claimed that the “real Congress” stands with his side. He alleged that the DMK had brought the Tamil Nadu Congress into its fold by spending “several crores”.
In his address, Vijay launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, saying the CM was “without real power” and suggesting the event would not have been allowed if the government had full control. He also accused the DMK government of creating pressure and spreading defamatory campaigns against him.
Vijay further alleged that the DMK-led and BJP-led alliances may appear separate publicly but share the same objective internally—preventing him from entering politics and working for people. He claimed that since his entry, their ability to engage in corruption had been affected and that alliance calculations were now failing.
He said the DMK’s image among minority communities had “faded” and asserted that minorities were now on his side. Referring to controversies and restrictions he faced, including issues linked to Karur and conditions imposed on his film, he said repeated attempts to blame or isolate him had not succeeded.
Calling the election an “extraordinary” one, Vijay said that in all 234 constituencies, it is “Vijay” who is the candidate in spirit, and that his party’s candidates are not backed by big industrial houses. He also questioned the government on the rise of drug culture, law and order issues, and increasing violence, asking the Chief Minister to respond.
