Chennai: DMK Rajya Sabha MP Salma has come under heavy criticism from multiple quarters after a post she shared on X was perceived as supporting Pakistan.
In her post, Salma claimed that “because of Pakistan’s intervention, the war on Iran has stopped,” and added a remark aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, framed as a taunt to his supporters.
The post triggered strong objections, with critics saying it mocked the Prime Minister while appearing to back Pakistan, which they alleged acts as a key force behind terror activities targeting India.
Senior BJP leader Tamilisai, speaking to reporters, accused the DMK of promoting divisions and said the party should be defeated in Tamil Nadu. BJP sources also urged that Salma be arrested under sedition-related provisions for allegedly spreading misinformation.
As the backlash spread beyond Tamil Nadu to other parts of the country, and with the Assembly election approaching, Salma deleted the post.
