AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Wednesday criticised Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for saying there is a “secret” behind the NEET exam, during election campaigning in Chennai.
Speaking in the Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni constituency, where Udhayanidhi is contesting, EPS questioned whether promises made before becoming an MLA—such as providing toilet facilities—had been fulfilled. He also alleged that the DMK had failed to deliver even a quarter of its 525 promises, including the pledge to waive education loans.
Targeting Udhayanidhi’s NEET remark, EPS compared it to the story of a king whose “secret” about having donkey ears eventually becomes public through a musical instrument made from a tree that grew where the secret was buried. EPS said Udhayanidhi was afraid that revealing the “NEET secret” would similarly spiral out of control.
EPS further alleged that the Congress and the DMK had a “double role” on NEET—claiming they brought it in and also opposing it—while reiterating that the AIADMK’s position remains seeking an exemption from NEET. He also cited figures on sexual offence cases and POCSO cases mentioned by the Social Welfare Minister, questioning whether the DMK’s rule could be called good governance.
Concluding his speech, EPS appealed to voters in Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni to support Adhiraja Ram of the National Democratic Alliance led by the AIADMK in the upcoming election.
