BJP on Friday announced a set of election promises for West Bengal, including a monthly assistance of Rs 3,000 for women if it comes to power. Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the party’s “Sankalp Patra” in Kolkata.
The manifesto also pledges to implement a Uniform Civil Code within six months of forming the government. It further promises strict action against infiltrators and steps to prevent cattle smuggling through the state’s border routes.
Among other proposals, BJP said it would provide 33% reservation for women across all state government work. The party also promised Rs 3,000 per month as financial assistance for unemployed youth.
The document includes plans to create four new cities in West Bengal, offer Rs 15,000 support for youth preparing for competitive exams, and grant a five-year age relaxation for those who lost jobs due to corruption. It also proposes setting up a museum to promote the state’s cultural heritage and a cultural centre named after Rabindranath Tagore.
Speaking after the release, Shah said the party’s goal was to end what he described as a “dark phase” and turn West Bengal into a developed state. He claimed people were living in fear and disappointment and were seeking change, while criticising Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over “false promises” and alleged links with infiltrators.
